Who does it? Who loves it? Who doesn't? What software do you use?

I'm not looking to put much money into this. I just thought it would be a neat thing to try out. I have a laptop with Windows 7.

Im using Lightroom but its kind of slow, or are they all like that? Any others you know of Sparky?

I LOVE it!!! .. I use OxfordEye as well and use it on my laptop and have another monitor connected it and viewable by the person I am photographing .. it shows so much more detail than the little LCD screen on the camera. and you can show your clients what the picture looks like on the go. They can decide if they like or hate the photo right then and there. The only issue I have yet to figure out on it is when taking portrait shots it shows them sideways .. lol .. trying to figure out how to fix that problem.

Highly recommend for portraiture and everything else that is feasible to setup a laptop on location.

Love shooting tethered when I can do it, it works great in-studio. I use a script/program that utilizes Lightroom (i've long since forgotten the name of it, but it was a free program). There are certain situations that I prefer to shoot tethered, doing product or still photography or posed group portraits. I wouldn't use it doing child or maternity or a session where I am more focused on getting a creative shot and moving around a lot, but I really like shooting tethered when I'm on a tripod or in a situation where I want to check the result on the spot on a large screen rather than the cameras LCD. I believe the latest version of Lightroom supports tethered shooting, but I have a much older version of Lightroom, so it's a little more complicated to set it up, but with the script and Lightroom set to monitor the destination folder, it works perfectly.

I use Capture One 6 Pro ( the industry standard ) or should i say i did because now that i have a new laptop with windows 7 my 5D will not work because there is no driver, there is a work round with the 7 pro, make it run in XP. I can still use Capture One for editing

Its funny at the disney villains theme shoot I was at the other two photogs both shot tethered but both had issues with the laptops stalling out or some other glitch. It seemed more trouble than what its worth. The transfer is much faster than my downloading a card to LR but I'm not sure if its more trouble than its worth. I wouldn't want to test it out in the field with a shoot. Try it at home maybe and see. Its something I have thought about but after the troubles they had and they are seasoned togs I think I will wait. Haha.

You can contact TetherPro - Professional Tethered Shooting .. they do have a trial you can download before you buy it .. but you have to contact the author as there are no links to the trial version. The price is very good as well for everything it does. I was going to get the Nikons version however they no longer support the D90 in there tethered software so this was my option.

I would use it but the software for my camera doesn't work with Windows 7 and Lightroom won't recognize my camera... YAY PENTAX!

I love tethering during shoots. I found a way to use an eye-fi card to wirelessly transmit my photos to my iPad that is on a music stand. Works like a charm, and the clients/art directors love it!

Do tell!! I've been wanting a way to use my IPad as an instant way to show the photos during a shoot.

I am going to look into lightroom. I will check it's compatibility with my D90 but if I am going to get something I might as well get something that I can use for more than just tethering. Lightroom would be a good addition to my CS5.

I did it once for product photography with the software that shipped with my Canon.

But later on, I found that I could shoot faster without using the software. I had few hundred of similar items need to shoot. So it was faster for me to swap the subject, grabbed the remote then pressed the button (manual focus)
