I'd recently did find my way back to these shots and tought I'll give it a go. Here you are:

Classic pier shot - but this is the low-color and depressing Nordic version

I think the interesting part of this scene is the fog coming in. I would like more fog and less pier, if you see what I mean. You could turn the camera more to the right, perhaps. You would lose those icicles, yes, but I don't think they are important in this shot.

That's just my opinion, though.

Yeah I see what you mean, I could have at least tried and turn the camera to the right.

Maybe a little more like this shot?


Otherwise I'm just happy the spring is here, the winter has just been to long this year.

Well, I think you need to make it pop. It's dull and grey, imo, and I'd like to see some more detail. I took the liberty of doing a quick edit:

- add some detail in topaz adjust
- convert to black and white in silver efex, and added a small hint of warmth
- adjust leves
- crop

Getting rid of the little color there was, improved it, I think. In landscapes, I'm sort of an "all or nothing" sort of person when it comes to color. Getting some texture in the rocks made the foreground a little more interesting, I think. Or maybe I'm wrong. It's just the way I would edit the shot, though.

B&W looks nice! Perhaps I should give it a go some day and do a similar edit.
