I think in your granddaughter's eyes I can just about see what light you had set up for these ... but that photo has too much headroom. She's somehow "squished" to the bottom of the frame. And well, that other person's hands in your grandson's photo ... it would just be so much more HIS photo if there weren't his mom's (?) hands in there arranging his coat... Just two quick thoughts of mine on these... I'm no expert on lighting nor portraiture...
