Photos OK to edit
Im not an expert in Photography.
Recently I bought a Canon Xsi and has been pretty satisfied with it.
I ve been using my 8 year old 380EX ( that I used to use with my Canon Rebel G optical camera ) speedlite flash with it.
I notice that some of the pictures look burned slightly as the flash overpowers the subject.
Should I buy one of the new speedlite flashes ?
If yes will you also suggest a model number
( Looking at their website, I say 580EX II and 430EX II )
Thanks you very much

The 580M2 sports the feature of being a master flash unit - which makes it a very good choice if you think you will ever be using more than one flash at a time as it can triggor a slave flash unit.
Aside from that its the top of the range flash unit from canon at the moment so its a good choice for a new flash. I belive that the 430M2 is only a slave flash, but is still as good as the 580 for single flash use

As for the flash being too powerful you might consider a diffuser first to break up the light - that might be a cheaper option

you definitely want a hot shoe flash for your camera.... you will then be able to bounce your indoor shots off the ceiling instead of blasting the face of your subject....
