Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I had a couple people grab my images off FB and then complain about the quality?? Hmmmm I'm not a paid photographer but it's getting annoying......if they would call I'd gladly give them the full file size. Practice makes perfect and I don't charge anything for my practice. fRuStRaTeD!!

Really, they took your work and then complained!!!!!! The world is a strange place these days. Tell them they are lucky you don't sue

I am not a fan of watermarks, nor facebook; but that may be an age thing ;)

Oh dear! Don't post them on FB, problem solved. Your welcome.

Ha ha that's really funny. Can't you just laugh at them? Or maybe next time a person asks draw like a big dildo or something in their mouth in the picture and then write this is what happens when someone complains about image quality... That would be called taking the mature route or high road...

The mature route? Did you mean "the mature route?"

Wowza. Watermark and put a disclaimer saying they are only web sized blah blah blah please do not edit or crop out the watermark in any way... blah blah blah.
If you are giving away the full sized images to print you probably should just give them the images to begin with and it won't be a problem.

I put watermarks on any images I post on facebook. My reasoning isn't so much for people stealing them ( I use low res images and they can't really do jack with them anyway ), but more due to Facebooks TOS in regards to photos. I watermark them as a big "FU" to facebooks TOS.

The thieves complain about the quality? OMG! How uncouth!

What's even more sad, is they probably don't even know they are stealing.

Absolutely, put a copyright statement on any photos you post on Facebook.

Watermarks don't protect anything but they give a great non-professional look to photo's, certainly may deter someone from stealing yours again.

sue them because you get harassed on a photography forum and you cant sleep for a week.

No more than a deadbolt protects your house, or an ignition lock protects your car. Everything has ways to work around it if thieves have the time and skill.

You can also place copyright symbols and your initials at a really low opacity in random less obvious spots of the photo at varying sizes. That way, people get caught up trying to remove the obvious watermark and never think to look much closer.

That might stop some of the people that just want a cool background for their desktop, or maybe some people that want a free 4x6 print, but it doesn't stop this:

you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook (IP License). This IP License ends when you delete your IP content or your account unless your content has been shared with others, and they have not deleted it.

Facebook
Section 2, paragraph 1.

And my wife wonders why I give her **** every time she posts pictures on Facebook...
