Showing Event Photos during the Event

Hey everyone,

We are trying to come up with some way to do the following and hoping that YOU might have done this before or seen a setup that works well. Many of our events are 5Ks, Triathlons, Marathons, and obstacle courses. What we are wanting to be able to do is setup a tent at these events with a computer or two and a TV for display to the participants. Then throughout the race, we swap out cards with photogs and bring those pictures and put them up scrolling on the TV for participants to review. This way they can see the photos that are being taken and might spark some more interest. We will then have signup forms to get on an email list as well as flyers about how to get to the event online to purchase pictures.

So what I am wanting to know is, have you seen or do you know a good way to setup and display the images as we go throughout the event? What software might be ideal to do this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Laptop with HDMI output, appropriate size television, Honda EU series 2Kw genset. Use the Windows Picture and Slide Viewer 'Filmstrip' option already resident in Windows or one of a thousand freeware slideshow applications.

It's not a difficult thing to do. I think the size of the display monitor is the biggest concern...

Thanks guys. I figured it would probably be that easy, but I didn't know if there was a "better" way to do it...maybe more quality way to do it is the better wording.

Consider shooting a small JPEG along with whatever large file is normally used (RAW or Large JPEG). The small jpegs will transfer and process (if needed) very quickly.

As long as the photographer(s) are competent, the images shouldn't need editing, just for previews...so all you'd need to do is off load the small files and set up a slideshow.
