Sigma 150-500 mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM

Anyone has this lens....I have read mixed revies

some say soft after 300mm and some have posted razor sharp images at 500

rgregory - good luck with the new lens! Like any zoom you will see the overall result soften as you extend the focal range. This is perfectly normal and normally solved by stopping the lens down around one stop from wide open. Also remember that at 500mm even f8 is not out of the question, I actually know quite a few bird photographers will use this aperture (if the light allows) because they want a good depth of field over the subject (distance to background and 500mm focal length will still render strong blurring ).

I remember now.....dam thoses are some sharp photos for a lens that goes soft at 300mm....

Im feeling much better about my purchase now....lol

I had 2 of them. Great lens for the $$$'s.

Shot 2 seasons of regional daytime field sports action with them. From the dollars I made using them I was able to buy 2 used but very well cared for Nikon 200-400mm f/4G AF-S SWM SIC ED IF VR II Nikkor Super Telephoto Zoom Lens
