Sigma 17-70 OS HSM

After much deliberation I finally chose the Sigma 17-70 2.8-4 OS. I liked the range and the quality/ price ratio. From what I have read, there is some consistency issues with this lens across its range. I would like to know if there are sweet spots that users have found. I still have not received it yet, but I would like to get ahead of the game.
