I got the lens on Friday, but today was the first time getting a chance to leave my house (due to Tropical Storm Lee). Love the lens, very sharp, but suffers from some Chromatic Aberration wide open (easy fix in post), but I've heard this is an issue across the board for f/1.4's. I still have some more testing to do with this lens, but I've had some back focusing issues once I get over 30+ foot away from the subject or some erratic AF issues. Anyways, one with the shots.

Thanks for looking. I'm really excited about this lens though, it surprises me how sharp this thing can be when the focus is hit correctly (which is majority of the time)

Nice lens. I'm an unashamed Sigma fan (30 and 50 1.4's), and so far everyone I "know" on forums who's purchased one is happy with it. Looks like Lee made a bit of a mess.

The first 4 are awesome to me. Nice work.

From the countless reviews I have read, the sigma 1.4 actually outperforms the nikon 1.4.

Sharp... looks like it and colors good too.

Thanks guys! I have a 'model' shoot for a tshirt company next weekend, can't wait to give this lens the true test :)

lol, I will. They'll be clothed male and females. Nothing like ghache posts :/

Honestly, I just want to see more examples from this lens. I own the very nice Canon 85 1.8, so the issue for me is whether or not the Siggy would be a true upgrade, or would it be more lateral? I would only gain less than a full stop, and the IQ of the Canon is already excellent. Add to that the fact that the Siggy is better than double the price of the 1.8, so even if I sold the Canon, I would still have to come up with $600+. Decisions, decisions.

I want to see more too. I'm looking at the Nikon 1.4, and used or grey market new price is only a bit higher for this lens.

This is the thread that sold me on it, it's a Canon forum (I'm Nikon), but it's 244 pages of example shots. Sigma 85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM - Page 244 - Canon Digital Photography Forums

Can anyone else add some thoughts to my shots? Overall, i think they came out good and proud of my lil lens lol.

Hows the bulid quality compared to the nikon 85 1.4?

I've never held the nikon 85, but the Sigma feels like a solid lens. They finally got rid of the texture paint they've used for a while and same paint as my Sigma 10/20 and they are using a flat/matte black rubbery feeling paint now. The focus ring is a bit tight, but I'd rather that than too loose. It's Sigma's pro/elite lens series so it's a good build imo.
