Sigma lens giving funny reading on D80

Got a sigma 24-60mm about 3 months ago. Love the lenns. Didnt get one of the one people complain about being "soft". I love it. I Put it on my D80 the other day and it reads on the top LCD fEE and when the shutter button is pressed in the lower right hand corner it reads r06. Any clue? My manual is packed away for the D80 just checking to see if anyone has any idea or explaination. I ordered it off the net and its still under warranty so I'm nto "too" worried.
It hasnt been dropped (camera or lens) hasnt been wet, no nothing... At three months old... kinda soon to be having problems. None of my Nikkors, tokina or other sigmas are doing this.
Ideas? Suggestions? all are welcome. Thanks!
