Sigma makes DSLR's?

So today while looking to buy a shovel for landscaping on the Sigma website, i stumbled uppon one of their lenses that said what mount to select. So i was going for the Nikon mount and no sooner when i did that, did i discover SIGMA MOUNT!!!!?? But it isn't April yet, so this must be real. What is going on here? Is TPF in on the cover up? Why is there no Sigma section? :raisedbrow: DSLR | Sigma

IIRC, Helen B has, or has regular access to, a Sigma SD1 Merrill.

Sigma bought Foveon a few years ago.

Sigma has had them out for quite a while, but they've never really done their DSLR in design or marketing as a mass market appeal item so its never really gained a big market. I suspect that their own brand lens sales are very small compared to other brand mounts. They might take their DSLR further, but I think that they know they can't beat Nikon or Canon and so are happy to take a slice of the niche pie with their Foveon sensor

Just for the sake of belonging to a super exclusive club. I am as of now not too deeply invested in Nikon, i could always turn the ship around.

I just discovered Sigma DSLRs the other day too. Interesting technology to say the least. If you do jump ship, Hamlet, I'm sure there's a ton of people that would be interested to see what it can do.

I saw the Sigma cameras before I bought my current Nikon as it had a high MP if I recall.
Some user on another forum was trying to sell his .. trying .. and trying ...
not much demand and a high price for low quantity manufacturing.
So I moved on and stuck with Nikon and Canon as my primary choices.

I wonder if someone has a test shot with canon or nikon compared to a Sigma of the same object with the same settings more or less? We could pixel peep and see how the noise and other things fair.
