First time sharing a photo on this forum.....

Welcome to the forum! Nice idea. The horizon is slightly tilted and probably too much dark space at the bottom.

This shot is very nice except for the industrial structure on the left.

Picky, picky, picky.

Unless, of course, the structure is readily identifiable by the average viewer and is included to provide "place context". I suspect in this case it is not your intention.

THIS ^^^^^^^^^, yes, agreed. With the structure removed, the shot becomes more universal, with it there, it's probably more "locally identifiable" to the people in the photo, or to people from that immediate area who are familiar with that smokestack and plant.

I can still kinda-sorta see some detail in the people. IMO, if silhouette is what you’re after then go all the way to black. Easy to achieve with curves.

Thanks everyone! I didn't mind the building in the background because it's kind of a landmark to the area....but I can see how it probably looks better without it. It's so interesting to hear what other (much more advanced) photographers have to say.
