Day 3 with my new dslr... actually, only my 3rd month of having a dslr fullstop.

Shot fully manual.

Looks like you're making it work for you.

Were you shooting for awhile before the first dslr?

I shot with a film slr on and off for 2-3 years when I did my A-Level (British exam taken at 18 usually before uni) in photography, Prior to that, no experience. I have had a year break and just come back into it.

I should have spent more time with B&W before digital. You brought the look right out of the dslr.

This looks like the photo you see in the photography instruction books on the assignment for texture. It is very well done. I would post something more critical to help you improve, but I'm really at a loss. The only thing I see is that the log runs out in the second photo in the bottom right-hand corner, leaving a black sliver of space. But is that a problem? I personally don't think so. And I'd say if abraxas approves with his knowledge of composition and exposure, you've got a decent photo.
