That's not the type of bee. I found this bee sleeping on a flower this morning. Went back in and got my camera. Unfortunately my 100mm macro is out on loan but I put my trusty 70-300 VR lens on and gave it a go. I did use the onboard flash as it was pretty early and not much light yet.

First shot is sleeping, then it proceeded to wake up slowly and begin to work on the flower it slept on.

Nice "action" sequence. Me, I think I would leave sleeping bees lie :biggrin-93: - well maybe a pic or two.

Agreed nice series...but it might not have been sleeping. It might have just been in deep thought...

Very possible, certainly as assumption on my part. I've never seen a bee sit still for that long a period of time. It took me a good 5 or 6 minutes to get my camera and it was still there motionless when I got back and then a few minutes more.

How can you tell if their eyes are closed?

Great shots. Thanks for sharing.

I should have added a smiley after my comment...here it is :biggrin-93:

Nice series, never have seen a sleeping bee before.
