Smoke

Hey,

Can anyone tell me how to take pictures of smoke? How would you get a white smoke line and a black background?

You need to have sufficient light difference between the smoke and the background. I've never tried it myself but you could try to light the smoke with a lamp from the side, that way the light will not illuminate the background. Though someone else may have a better idea.

its been awhile since I shot smoke... Im pretty sure you light the smoke from behind. so a light placed between the smoke and the background but out of the shot possibly off to the side like Garbz said.
