WHITE ON WHITE

MAC, my yellow Labrador Retriever pup is quickly closing in on nine months of age. We got MAC out on a pheasant hunt this morning and he was brilliant whilst afield. My two gunning partners did all the shooting leaving me to concentrate on training matters with MAC. MAC is a very light (cream) phased yellow Labrador and he blends in quite nicely whilst working on the snow.

THAT'S A MOUTHFUL

MAC has been trained to flush upland birds from cover and to locate and make retrieve of downed birds. He has been trained to sit and make a classic delivery of the bird to the hand of his owner / trainer / handler upon return. MAC is currently in training to become an AKC K9 Hunt Test athlete and will enter his first hunt tests in the spring of 2019.

SNOW BIRDS

Young MAC is a highly bird driven gun dog trainee and did some outstanding work whilst training and hunting this morning. As a first year gun dog trainee, each day spent afield with MAC is focused on instilling good habits, maintaining high standards of obedience, and developing the ever more complex skill sets needed to become a highly competent gun dog and K9 hunt test athlete.
Additionally, MAC'S time afield is focused on the experiences that a working breed dog desires and serves to keep his motivational levels peaked.

The pheasants harvested today will make for fine table fare for myself and some lucky friends.

Cheers,
THE DOG WHISTLER
