So is nikon a better company than canon

Wow, shame on me. Until someone pointed out the actual question - which is a better COMPANY - I didn't notice it. My brain automatically saw "which is a better CAMERA". Can't really provide any insight on that one as I've always been a Nikon guy. I have HEARD that Canon is better to deal with, but I don't personally know.

There's more to the question than the topic. Although the topic is which company is better, it's obvious by the OP's actual post that he's in the market for a camera and wants to know which brand to buy. My original post focused on both, but answering either question is valid given the context.

The answer is..........it doesn't matter. There are people making lots of money shooting with both brands all day long, while we sit on photography forums arguing like a bunch of pre-pubescent fanboys.

I think we just see that debate rage so often in so many places that the brain sees what it's used to seeing. Well, in my case anyway .... I Would bet though that it's still 6 of one half a dozen of the other in terms of the companies as well. Both good and bad experiences, and it still falls into a preference. Some people could tell the OP some horrible experiences they've had with either one, and there would be an equal number with exactly opposite stories. All that I can tell him/her is that I prefer Nikon, but only because that's simply what I started out with (when I began to get more serious anyway) and have stayed with because it's "comfortable" for me.
