decided she had to have a dog, didn't matter we had three cats, went to the pound and got a seven month old chiwawa.The dog barks and growls at the cats, the two smaller cats run and hide from the dog, my 20lb tomcat just smacks the poop out of the dog. I had such a quiet home.

Yup. I am awaiting the demise of our two dogs and have convinced her that we will never get another dog.

We currently have a cat and a dog (black lab, 6 years old).

My neighbors have a chihuaha (I have no idea how to spell that word right...)...man, the danged think YIPS and YAPS all the time!!! It's kind of an annoying little mutt...

All I can say is just ensure that the cats have safe passage outside. Cats entrapped indoors by a fearsome hound guarding the main stairs/door end up being cats who adjust their habits and can pick up some new ones that can leave a terrible smell around the house


Ps 4 cats and 1 husky is an interesting combo - esp when said dog hates cats! Down to just 2 cats now (2 died of old age) and we know we won't have any more cats until the dog has passed on; at least unless a stray cat walks in the back door.

Once a dog owner always a dog owner - you wait and give it time and you'll likely end up with another dog

I like dogs, but cats suit me much better. I'd like to have a dog one day, but not until I have enough space outside to let the dog run free. And sorry, but it will be a real dog, and not one of those yippy drop-kick dogs Really though, I kind of figure dogs to be like boats: never have one yourself, but always have friends with a dog/boat.

But if I ever did decide that I wanted one, I would never dream of just insisting on something I knew my partner adamantly did NOT want, and I wouldn't just go out and come home with a dog.

I grew up with Great Danes. If I'm gonna' have a dog, it's going to be a dog, not an amphetamine with feet.

Anything that doesn't come up to your knee, or that isn't a breed which rhymes with "Pit Bull", is a cat...
