No longer a newbie, moving up!
I came across this software last night and some of you may find it useful.
It said it works with some Canon cameras, but not all. I tried and it worked with my Canon 40D, but not the XTi.
I believe the software may not be able to count the shots that taken with Liveview. But in general, it is very close.
