some macro fun!

Here are a few pictures I've taken since I picked up the Tokina at-x Pro d 100mm f2.8. Don't have off camera flash yet or any PP software(need new CPU to handle it). I was having some fun either way. Let me know if any have any potential or if I'm doing anything right, lol. As always CC is welcome and a thanks in advance for CC. Also I know some of these aren't considered macro and are just close up.

Is there anyway to look up if I was at 1:1 or how close to lifesize in the exif data?

#1 Is nice and detailed - a banknote I take it ?

#2 I really like this one. Much better than the F2.8 one - as the focal point is too the front. Good bokeh too.

#3 I like this too, but out of 2 or 3 I prefer 2 for simplicity.

#4 Just prefer shallow DOF shots to focus at front personally, like you F8 one.

#5 This one is a bit dull...in terms of interest (IMO :meh and dull in terms of brightness - needs boosting when you get some PP software - unless you can adjust RAWs without and shoot in them ?

On the right track - keep shooting and posting.

Not sure how you find out the exif stuff.

Thanks for the reply. #1 is a $20 just for fun. Yes I need to work on the DOF on all of these.
Now i'm noticing even on #2 the front tips are oof. Also the background isn't evenly lit which is producing different shades of white.reight? I can't wait to get a couple sb600's, extension tubes and a nice tripod. I want to improve to lighting!
These were all shot in a small white bookcase with pop up flash and handheld. I used a peice of mail to bounce the flash at different angles to get even light and produce no shadows but I still see a few.

Any tips on getting the most out of your pop up flash would be great. Untill I have me a couple 6 or 700's.

you can get slide on diffusers for pop up flashes. It would let you get more out of your pop up and soften the flash for a nice even light.

Yes diffusion is the way to go.
