::.Some Of My New Portrait Work::. Feedback Apprecited

Looks more like an advert for his website and his "sponsors" on his website.

Juelz Santana (I think)??? Ray J??? Justin Bieber??? Ha!! Keep dreaming buddy....

And is that Tyga? This is funny!

Now that you mention it, pretty true. If I know all those people and take photos like that, I doubt I would spend any time on here. Especially made a new account and all.

He might just be sandbagging, because his website has a bunch of celebs along with these pictures.

I've shot all those celebrities its not a fraud just because I post on the forum doesnt mean anything, I like to share my work

and get feedback because I've been only shooting for 3 years and have no education in photography I taught myself so I'm

not the best at it I like to see what others think and things I can work on. I have great connections and I'm humble I'm not gonna

act like im better than anyone else or think I'm better than people just cause of who I shoot doesnt make me any bigger end of the day

im human.

I'm gonna go ahead and play devil's advocate and say... Who the f*** cares who he is?

He's a dude who has good connections in an industry that is ALL about who you know and relies on those good connections to get you anywhere... and he posted here.

He also posted in the beginner section... along with a ton of other people who "shouldn't" be posting here.

He may or may not be doing it to subtly pimp out his website... who cares?

He came here to share his work... like the rest of us... it's a PHOTOGRAPHY forum.

Just because he shoots famous people doesn't mean that he doesn't get bored and surf the net once in a while... so I don't know why it's *so* far fetched that someone who has shot celebrities would want to post here, especially if his story is true and he's only been doing it 3 years. Perhaps he sees flaws in his own work and wants to better himself... which is more than I can say for *some* photographers who claim to have been shooting for "over 10 years", but look like they haven't ever *started* to *learn* the process.

And maybe he's NOT who he said he is... in which case, once the owner of that website sees his stats, this dude's cover will be blown pretty quickly... sooooo... I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt.

Personally, I don't really care who posts photos here. If they're working with famous people, I certainly find that more interesting than Susie posting blurry images of her kids' day at the pool.... but that's just me. ::shrugs::

This isn't my style of photography but ignoring that:

- Seems like you have a bit of diversity in what your subject is doing which is good
- The lighting ranges from spot on to in your face (in a bad way) #3 specifically has very strong lighting that looks very out of place
- Extremely heavy handed vignette, which I understand that can be a look you enjoy. I just find it to be a bit tacky anymore
- Very heavy handed on the contrast to the point you actually ruin some of the quality of the image (you could just be crushing your blacks, either way)
- Then you have a couple with the contrast sucked out of them, I wouldn't mind this but in the two you did it #'s 6&7 the subject is too close to the same color as the rest of the image, which is when you actually need the contrast.
- I really enjoy #5 but the lighting just isn't all the way there yet :|

I think overall you did a good job with these, but you definitely could benefit from a class or two in just lighting or creative photography. Your subjects are posed decently well, and they look somewhat comfortable. I know looking happy tends to be a no-no for these photos, but maybe you can convince them to do something where they aren't solely grimacing the entire time lol. A lot of what bothers me with these photos is the editing, and the lighting. I think the composition, and technical aspects are good. The editing style is a bit out of date now, for a while these really heavy handed photos were all the rage but often designers are trying to stay away from that because it is trendy rather than good design.

Keep up the good work!

Yeah. Here's the problem as I see it. Regular members who are "decent" photographers get ridiculed for posting in the beginner section. But this guy, who doesn't help others, only posts his work in the beginner forum, is heralded. Quite frankly I feel he is only here to drive traffic to his site.I don't have a problem with him posting his work. But the beginner forum? Really? Oh yeah. I forgot. You get the MOST VIEWS HERE. Why post in the professional gallery when the beginner section will drive more traffic?

Thank you for your opinions on the photos I'll work on the flaws. You dont believe this is me then message me on my facebook or twitter and you will see it is, or email me on the email provided on the website.

I dont post here to drive more traffic to my website why would I how much is it gonna help it I have a huge!!! fan base already I have 3 facebook pages, personal one = 2,740 friends another one 5,000 friends and my fan page has 7,790 likes my twitter has 2,358 followers, and my tumbler has 1,050 followers

I get minimum 1,000 reblogs on tumblr. so now you tell me really??? to get more hits on my website

I'm one of the few people who could give a sh*t, as I said, who posts what where... so my reaction to not caring that he's posting in the beginner's section is the same as my reaction to anyone who posts in the beginner section that "shouldn't" be. Like I said... I use the "Active Topics" button so it's all the same to me anyway.

And for the record... I'm *not* heralding him... I not once mentioned what I thought about his *quality* of work, as I just told someone in a PM. In my opinion it's flawed... some are *very* flawed. My original post was a knee-jerk reaction to one person who posted in this thread in particular, however I am not going to name names, because I'm not trying to get into a pissing contest with this person on the internets.

If he wants to post for feedback... I say who cares. But again... that's just me, and I realize it's an unpopular opinion.

 Don't get all butt hurt dude. It's just the internet. No one cares how many followers, or friends you have on the internetz.

If you seriously want feedback on your work, then keep posting. Next time just post a couple... and don't link to your website and it won't seem so much like you're trying to drive traffic to it. If people want to search you out outside of this forum they will.

Just post and ask for feedback. :sillysmi:

I'm not getting butthurt or upset at all! im just being realistic here, why cant I join forums and post cause I shoot celebrities big deal I'm apart of over 15 forums and I post on all of them to share my work to motivate and inspire young up and coming photographers so they know they can do anything they want.

I remember some of the shots earlier this year, I associated them the second I saw the ones posted this time. Thats a good thing, it means you have an individual style that people will remember. People said some of the same things the last time you posted. I don't care who posts in the beginners section. Honestly, I think it should be renamed and the sub catagories should be reduced anyways. Whats that phrase...KISS. You know if Bryan Peterson posted some shots on here, would he be criticized for asking for feedback? Probably not. I think the time when you stop asking for feedback and decide you are above criticism and feedback is about the time your career ends. Education is never a bad thing.

Super! Why don't you take the time to help the young, up and coming photographers that post here looking for help from people like you who made a success of themselves?
Your 22 posts are all in your own threads. That's reads as being self serving rather than supportive of those up and comers you brought up.

There are plenty of posts, nearly one every week, of people wanting to get into concert photography. Help them!
You won't though. You're a member of 15 forums. That's an aweful lot of time to take actually helping people.

SdotB, don't get me wrong. I am not saying you shouldn't post. On the contrary. I am suggesting you post in the appropraite forums for your skill level, such as the People Gallery, or the Professional Forum. I am pointing fingers at a community that derides members who do participate here as to where they should post, yet for someone who doesn't participate they let it slide.

And for the record, I am a proponent of having one forum for critique, inclusive of all skill levels. It has been made clear that it will never happen.

Getting kinda dark in here.

Agreed. And I don't understand WHY it won't ever happen... because that's pretty much what the beginner's forum has become ANYWAY... so why not just rename the damned thing and delete the other "critique" sections? Can't be THAT friggin hard.... :lmao:
