Ok guys! Don't be TOO hard on me, here are just a few that I took today walking around my apartment complex. Let me know what you think!!

#1- Gotta love some pure American muscle...

#3 - Some interesting looking berries...

#4- Okay. I was slightly nervous taking this one bc I am dangerously allergic to flying stinging things....but I think it paid off...This is my favorite of the set....

C&C per req:

1. Nice subject, but, IMO, not the best execution. Generally speaking in photography, we want pictures of the subject coming toward us, not going away (There are plent of exceptions of course, but as a general guideline...) Given the rather unattractive background in this image I think a low-down, from the front 3/4 shot would have made this a MUCH stronger image. As well, try and include more of the car.

2. Lots of potential here. I think I would have approached this a little differently however. Instead of using a short focal length and small aperture, I would have gone for my longest focal length and largest aperture and moved farther back from the subject. This would have rendered the background out of focus and mus less distracting. It's a little hard to tell due to the clown highlights, but it almost looks like you may have missed focus as parts of the hydrant seem soft.

3. This is your first lesson in shallow DoF. Notice the areas which are focused and which aren't. When working at such short subject to sensor distances, your DoF can be very, very shallow, and it's important to know where your focus is. In this case I think it should have been on the berries vice the leave upper right.

4. Two things here: One, a much tighter crop on the wasp as there's rather too much background which isn't very interesting at all, and two, the background is too bright. I would take this back to your favorite editing application and work with the curves tool to reduce the highlight brightness somewhat.

Just my $00.02 worth - your mileage may vary.

I like the idea of the Corvette shot, but the wall really kills it. I don't think shooting from the rear is so bad, but I'm a little vague on what attracted you to the shot. For me, what I see is the strong sensous contour of the body. I think if you repositioned to make that dominate the shot, even cropping in tight on it so there is little or no background or even hood, it might work.
