To improve from here you need to learn about the light. I was about to recommend you this book, but noticed it costs some insane money these days on Amazon.
Chasing the Light: Improving Your Photography with Available Light (Voices That Matter): Ibarionex Perello: 9780321752505: Amazon.com: Books
Anyway, something like this will help enormously. Light is what makes or breaks your photo, you need to realise that camera sees things differently, essentially it photographs direct and reflected light in various colours. The amount, direction and quality of light is the first thing you need to look for.
PS This book is £14 on Amazon.co.uk, so highly recommended.
