Some spiders

Hi!

sharing again some macro shots, spiders this time.

1. Tiny garden spider with tiny (of course) prey

2.Two-spotted spiny spider

3. Shy jumpy! This one was the largest JS I've seen so far, about 10mm body length!

4. Another JS.

5. Lynx spider with prey

6.JS got a bath!

7. Kidney Garden Spider

8. Prey of the Golden orb spider

I have to know. Do you do the Photo Stacking thing I have heard about to make these sorts of images clearly focused?

You get great insect shots.

They don't look like focus stacks to me.

That is why I was asking. I noticed they have some areas that aren't in focus but they still work. Mostly. Not really liking the last one.

oh dear god. i absolutely hate spiders, but 1 & 2 are fantastic! i wouldn't mind having those hanging on my wall .. as prints. no pun intended, haha.
if you take more, please post them!

I didn't do any focus stacking in my macros, never actually tried it. they're all shot with reversed 18-55 mm lens with one lollipop stick inserted on the aperture lever to open the aperture approx. halfway. This opening does not give a very shallow DOF and allows just enough light through the viewfinder to aid in focusing. As usual, I focus on the eyes. Patience is needed here as eyes of small spiders such as pic #1 are very small and sometimes difficult to see.
