Do a slight selective hue or color balance adjustment and say they were yellow.

Yep, I'm not a bug. They don't smell good either. These flowers are just duds. It's an euonymus alatus commonly called a burning bush. In the Fall the leaves turn blazing red. Then it's worth a photograph.
