Some watch advertising pictures for a company - C&C please

I did these for a company that found me. Did a bunch of catalog type pictures,then when above and beyond the call of duty and did some advertising type pictures for them as well. Let me know what you guys think. Website will be launching soon. Really affordable watches, pretty cool idea. You can change the face and the band. Let me know what you guys think.

If feels like the background takes to much attention from the watches in all of you images. (Maybe try adding a vignette?)

It looks like the light is a bit harsh aswell. try improve the light quality, what kind of flashes and light modifiers were you using?

I wanted harsh light to create a shadow. I always use extremely soft light, so figured I'd try something different.

I like them. Did you have any art direction from the client, or were you on your own?

I love the backrounds and lighting.

The only thing are the watchs. There dusty (the black and the brown one the most). They should be spotless. That is the only thing I can see holding these back from ad quality.

photoshop the dust and the inperfections off the watches and you should be good.

I dont like them, personally. I think that they need something to make them look more attractive. For example: They look like cheap plastic/rubber watches. I wouldn't be caught dead in one. A lot of companies will put models in their pictures to sell to a particular audience or they will put the item in a setting that appeals to a certain audience (ie-photographing one color of the watch on a skate boarder or in a skate park in the background, appealing to anyone who skate boards. Then they will be likely to get the idea "oh skateboarders wear this kind of watch.. I need one")
The idea for ads is to make a product desirable and make people want to buy one. Make it exciting! instead of just a plain background behind the watch.

Just my opinion... hope it was somewhat useful for you!

I like this shot, its simple and effective.

This shot isn't really doing it for me, the background destroys the picture for me. Matching the subject to the background can work in some instances, but it wasn't working for me on this one.

This one is ok, but I think you could have been closer to the subject.

Whatever the reason, the server these are hosted on is painfully slow. I hope this isn't the watch designers website.

Agreed on softening the light a bit and cleaning up the watches in Photoshop.

I'm on the fence with the backgrounds. On one hand they do sort of distract from the watches but as somebody else said, they do make the watches feel soft which might be a plus.
