Manfrotto, really right stuff, and a really right price 
. My cheapo bit the dust couldnt afford a good quality one for a while so i had to work with what i had. I prefer something with a ball head, i think, unless there are sufficient reasons to not go with ball head. Possibly with the L bracket and the little panorama notches on it.
