My fiance and I were taking save the date pictures, and after we finished I wanted to try this shot.

All C&C welcome.

I think that, while this sort of works, the problem with such strong light, it creates deep shadows and so the most important part of the picture, your fiancée's face is too flat.

Thanks Lew. I forgot my speedlight at home :/ I tried to salvage it, but I knew it wouldn't be as good as it could have been.

And this is where you McGyver your light fix by taking the aluminized reflector for your car windshield, and ask a passing squirrel to hold it so that a narrow beam of reflected light catches her face. Sheesh. ;)

Very nice light, by the way. And even nicer lady. She deserves photographic justice. :sexywink:

All the squirrels are gone for the winter I'm afraid :P

One and only bump :P

Tiller, I have two small nitpicky issues with it. 1) I'd prefer to loose some of the space above to include her feet. 2) If you zoom in on the original, there are 3 spots that need to be corrected. The first is between her eyes, the second is by her left shoulder and the third is a dark spot on her shirt between the end of the scarf and her waist.

Other than that, I really like this photo. You are a fortunate man to have such a lovely fiance. Congrats.

I'm very much with Ron on this one. The image would have been stronger (imo) if her feet were included. Perhaps it's just the boots being such large diameter around the calves, but she just feels so anchored to the bottom that she needs a pair of feet to get rid of the feeling that she's just disappearing or sinking into the bottom of the frame. Besides that, just that one blown-out corner of her hair.

A great concept, I'd like to see what you do with a reshoot :)

Would have been better had you not chopped her off at the knees. And the lighting is super harsh like Lew said.

Thanks everyone. I might try a reshoot with this one.
