I've been wanting a smaller camera for everyday cary or biking or short trips, just because my main canon dslr is too bulky. Is this a good starting point?

Whenever I buy, I wouldn't spend a ton so I think the price is good. Is the tech outdated though? I would never be willing to spend $300 or more on a second camera now so just curious.

Would this be a good option for me or should I wait for something better? This is second hand but the guy didn't really use it so like new.

Hello and welcome, there are lots of good small cameras for traveling. Have a good look around first..

My brother has one of these. He's no real photographer just holidays, family stuff etc etc but he loves it. Ideal for his purposes and yours by the sound of it too.

.............................oh, and welcome too.;)

I would recommend against quitting with nothing lined up (I think you'll only put more of a burden on yourself with the stress of trying to get another job, although if you're willing to wait the job market out then maybe you'll be fine), but maybe have some good contacts to leverage?
