wow, didn't know one could forget a language! I thought it was more like swimming and cycling.

Sure you can, if it's not your native tongue and you don't ever use it. I might be like swimming and cycling in the respect that if I tried to pick it back up, I'd have a much easier time than a first time learner, but still, if you don't use it, you lose it.

I speak pretty fluent German from time to time. I know how to ask where the bathroom is in about five languages. I've even been known to speak non-southern every once in a while.
