It would only work if you used your TV as an computer screen, meaning your notebook or desktop would have to be plugged in to the TV as the software has to run on the computer as far as i know, it also depends on what version of the Spyder you but as well.

EDIT : I have been looking at the "Xrite ColorMunki Display" as an alternative to the Spyder

in my country i only have spyder alternative.

are you sure that i must to plugged in notebook to the TV?

my tv has USB port. - why no just plugged in the spyder directly to the usb port ?

Because the spyder requires software to function. That software is not in the spyder but must be loaded onto the computer.

TV displays have less resolution than computer displays, and aren't a good choice for image editing.

Generally no. Most recommend an IPS external monitor or (ugh) Macbooks I hear are good for editing too. But take suggestions as options.

If you're traveling well only thing you can do is use/calibrate your laptop the best you can.

Not quite. Most TV screens have the same resolution as a computer monitor (just spread over a larger area), and many TV screens are IPS displays.

Unfortunately most TV screens have all sorts of fancy stuff to make movies pop and look dynamic. None of that is in any way accurate. I've seen TVs where you can't turn down the sharpness. I have a TV that only accepts 16-235 input range rather than 0-255. I have seen TVs with such uneven gamma across the three colour channels that no amount of calibration can ever help.

Anyway it can't hurt to try. Just don't expect much.

I do not want to hijack this thread, but I was about to post a similar thread.
went to Best Buy and TigerDirect store to get Spyder4, and they did not know what I was talking about and the other store said I do not need it. I can download a bright/contrast program from my computer, and that's all I need. I did tell tell them it was a photography need, but got no where.
I Am trying to go to sticks and bricks stores, but they are not helping their own cause. I would pay a little more to ask questions, and get help.
mods can move this if appropriate .
