Star effect?

Does anyone know how to get a bright, sparkle effect with the sunshine hitting water? What lens, filters, etc. should I use? Any help is appreciated.

This is not facetious. It is called a Star Filter. Cuts are made in the glass to accentuate pin light like what you have on the water.

Cross-star filters will create this effect..there are different types, like 4-point cross star,and so on. The above effect looks "authentic", and can happen when really bright sunlight rays strike a smooth,reflective surface,and create a specular highlight. When the camera is at the right angle to the highlights, the above effect results in an organic, authentic manner. If you want to create the effect under less-than-ideal conditions, a cross-star filter or a mesh grid, like window screening, can help create it, but that also tends to impact the entire photo. The "authentic and organic" incidence of this demands a specular highlight AND just the right angle...so it does not always occur.
