#1 is intense

Picture #1 is a very strong composition. Your exposure is dead on, and the lighting is just perfect. I would have off set the Owl to the left for a more pleasing overall composition. The Bokeh background really works well. Unfortunately, what's right with picture 1, is wrong with picture 2. The bright contrasty light doesn't work well with the Owls. Toning it down some would certainly help. Being on the ground , all that grass just makes the picture way too busy.

Joel_W thank you for the nice comments on #1 , number two was a bit tougher , these chicks are in a protected zone with all sorts of orange rope surrounding them .

These two had just popped out of their borrow and I didn't have much time , just lucky to get one in focus. Lol. I had to lay on the ground just to shoot under rope.

May revisit in future and try something different. Thanks again.

I guessed as much. Like I posted earlier. The exposure in picture 1 is just about perfect.
