I have a Sony Alpha 300. Does it make a difference to keep the steady shot on all the time? Does it change anything? Thanks

I'm not familiar with SONY DSLRs but I'm guessing that Steady Shot is the in-body image stabilization. If you keep it on all the time you can be sure that camera shake won't affect most of your shots. But keeping it on all the time will mean shorter battery life. My suggestion is to turn it on when using long focal length lenses and when ever the shutter speed is below the recommend speed for the lens used (35mm lens - 1/35, 50mm lens - 1/50, 135mm lens - 1/135, 200mm lens - 1/200...you get the idea). If you're shooting with a 50mm lens and the shutter speed is like 1/500 you won't need Steady Shot to be on...unless you have really shakey hands.
