Leaves before the storm hit... thought they looked neat.... is it just me? I wonder if I will ever be able to tell if my images are decent without your help...?
The way you framed it... the leaves are not the primary subject. The seed pod / bloom / whatever is. It is also dead center in the frame. The way you cropped the only in focus leaves (foreground) emphasizes this. Make sense?
Not much there... although the shapes and ripples in the leaves are kind of interesting. I would have shot it with a touch more DOF.. to get all of the leaves sharp.. and leave the background soft...
A lot of times.. we will see something that really looks cool. But capturing that "coolness" so that others can see it... is difficult. It is partly your mood, the weather, other environmental conditions, the lighting at the time.. and many other factors, some of which cannot be captured in the photo, no matter how hard you try.
Charlie gave you some excellent advice in his 2nd post. When I saw the post title, I expected storm clouds, or something along those lines. When I saw your B&W leaves image, I was confused as to how it related to a pending storm.
