I have tried to use the DOF here to concentrate on the basic idea behind the photo...

I prefer the b&w, but I'd almost rather see the rusty wire in focus as well as the fibers.

Whatever you were going for is trampled on by the poor focus.
If you do try this again, try not centering the fuzz. It might make for a more interesting composition.
