Strap attachments

Really don't like the nylon-strap-to-camera setup on my T3i. Does anyone use any other system? Split rings (what size)? Has anyone tried to do a little bend on the metal attach point on the camera to get a bit more clearance?

I have the OP/TECH Super Classic Strap and I'm very pleased with it. They make other straps and slings as well, some of which have interchangeable parts with each other.

You have to spend $25 in order to buy those because they're such a small item. For that much cash, you might was well buy a brand new strap! Unless of course you shop at Amazon as much as I do, and order something from there every couple months. Then you could just add them on to your next purchase of something else.

I personally use the Black Rapid RS-7 system and love it! So much, I hate carrying my wifes camera as she doesnt want to replace hers. So guess what, she carries it

Another vote for the Black Rapid. Also, stumbled across this in another forum (there's another forum?), if you have a Manfrotto quick release tripod head, you can link the BR strap to the ring on the plate, so you don't have to switch back and forth to use the tripod. This also allows it to sit flat(er) on a table.

Yeah, except for me, it's 40 years after being the starving college student/arteest, and I at least have a little bit more disposable income than I did back then. What I couldn't get then, I can get some of now...

I use Black Rapid. A good friend of mine uses the Carry Speed strap. Very similar, although his Carry Speed has an arca-swiss mounting plate on the bottom so he can put the camera on a tripod without having to remove the strap (I have to remove the Black Rapid attachment bolt.)

Both are MUCH more comfortable systems than using a factory strap.

I favor Opt-Tech myself and went with their Uni-loop system connectors on the camera. They allow a multitude of their straps to be attached. My only complaint is that with the L bracket and flash bracket mounted on my 5D3, the left side connector sometimes gets in the way when I changes settings from M to Av or Tv, etc.
