Strawberries

I am really enjoying shooting macro. Reminds me of my love for a microscope ( science major ). Bought strawberries at a farm today and went out into the field.

I saw you used the macro setting on your other thread - so I'm assuming you did the same here. The macro mode doesn't actually let you take macro pictures - you need an actual macro lens to do that. The macro mode, as well as the other modes, just set certain parameters for you. Like with the portrait mode the camera might choose a larger aperture or sports mode will give you a faster shutter speed. The modes set things that you can set yourself - shutter speed, aperture, etc. Lenses have a minimum focusing distance so using that macro mode doesn't allow you to get any closer to the subject then you normally can.

Anyways, the whole point of the above is that you'd probably get better results by setting/choosing some of the settings yourself. As it is now the strawberries have blown/overexposed spots all over and isn't a very appealing picture.

I see you definitely know how to use your Saturation Slider! A bit much.. a bit WAY too much!

And as Megan pointed out.. that is not Macro! It is quasi macro! Real 1:1 macro is macro...this is about 1:3 or 1:4.. maybe even 1:5!

for the info. I am looking at Macro lens. Yes, I did up the saturation. I shoot the photos at a farm in bright sunlight. Only had the camera with me. Since, taking only a few shoots up close, I really like it. I love using a microscope and this is similar to it. I have to settle for mode setting for now, but will work on the settings on future pics. Need a lot more education and practice!
