Sunset help!

I have a Nikon 8700. I can do great photgraphy on everything EXCEPT sunsets. If I ake pictures without zoom they look great but as I zoom in, they are orangey/golden and far from the color of the sunset. No matter what setting I use I am not getting any different results, just the orangey color. Can someone please help me firgure out what I am doing wrong? Thanks...

Post some samples.... you know what they say about pictures.

Shoot raw then fix the color in post...

Or just fix colour in post. Slight adjustments in hue are well within the realm of even a snapshot taken on a cameraphone.
