Have you tried HDR it can really bring out sunrises/sunsets. It doesn't have to be to much, just a little HDR bump might work.

Both pics could do with a bit more processing and removal of the huge white border.

I am assuming as you have not specified whether you will allow people to edit your images, it is allowed, but let me know if you want me to remove my examples.

Hi Tuesday, I meant to post this shot earlier for you. It's not a sunrise/sunset but it does show what can be done to the sky with HDR. This is a 3 shot HDR processed in Photomatix Pro using a preset, so not hard to do. I don't know what camera you are using but even some P&S's can shoot 3 shots with different exposures. I hope this helps and gives some ideas anyway.
