Switching from film to digital questions

I have an Minolta X-7A with two Kalimar lenses. I've asked around and haven't been able to get a definitive answer. Can I use my Kalimar lenses with a DSLR? If so, which ones? I've also been told that I could use an adapter. Is that completely necessary? If so, is there one I should get?

The Kalimars you can use with an adapter. They exist for Canon EOS, and probably others, I imagine. The ones I think you mean are the Minolta Maxxum/AF lenses. Those will slap right on to a Sony Alpha DSLR with no adapters needed, but that's a different mount. Your Kalimars are likely MD mount, and the Alphas and Maxxum lenses are Sony/Minolta A-mount.
