I was looking for my first DSLR and i chose out the t3i cause it would be perfect for the price range and just shooting purposes, but right before i bought it, i saw the nikon d5100 comparison to t3i, Found (here) , and it seems that the nikon d5100 is alot better, im just wondering what would pro's and cons of getting a nikon would be or should i just go with the t3i?

Check Craigslist to see which camera has the most available lenses.

Go to bestbuy and handle both cameras to get the best feel.

Consider friends and family for loaner lenses and tech support for a certain brand.

yea just cause i saw the d5100 for a sec im going to best buy within the day ;/ haha

Have a look at the sony alphas while you're there too. The a35 is cheaper than both of those and kind of falls right in the middle performance wise.

Humans are very adaptable, and have the best manual dexterity of any animal on the planet.

I suggest that the feel is much less important than the features, functions, and capabilites of the cameras you are considering.

I can't speak for the Canon but, I have the d5100 and i am very happy with it. Works especially well in low light.

I was all set to buy the T2i and after handling both I ended up with the Nikon D3100 as it is smaller and felt better in my hands..I love it...they're both good cameras, they both have a lot of available glass (although older Nikon lenes might not work with auto focus) so it really comes down to feel. Honestly I don't believe you can go wrong with either.

hey, i was RIGHT were you were about 2 weeks ago. some people knew that.

i went and bought the canon t3i kit with the 55-250 IS lens

i have already taken amazing pictures (for me that is) and i absolutely love it

the canon t3i also shoots 60fps where the d5100 does not. so if youre into video like i am, consider that.

i am not against or for either of them, it was a tough pick, i went with the canon cause it felt better and more friends had canons and we can switch out and borrow lenses and the 60fps

I saw that the D5100 was voted the best camera of 2011. But I can't find the link to it now, nor do I know about the credibility of the website I saw it.
I have the D3100, and when seeing specs and everything, I thought Nikon offered similar features for lower prices. So I went with Nikon.

What it boils down to is the feel how how it fits in YOUR hand. I personally like the feel of Nikons much better. My dad is a nikon man and i've grown up playing with his. I shot a friends canon and just didn't quite like the feel as much. They're great cameras, just not for me. I've heard great things about the T3i
