Need some help with some of my setting.Using Nikon D80 70-200 f2.8

A little more information would be helpful. What setting(s) are giving you trouble? Posting a couple of example images will also help greatly.

You need a shutter speed of as low as 1/500s to shoot football. With a D80, it's going to be blanking hard to get the ISO that high. Consider PM'ing Destin, I know he uses a D80 with 70-200 f/2.8 and maybe he could offer some advice. Although I think his advice will be to use flash.

Yep, keeping the shutter speed up to 1/500 will be real tough using a D80, even with a f/2.8 lens.

The trouble with using flash for football is the Inverse Square law. It takes a lot of flash power to get out to the players. Full power flash shots don't allow very good recycle times for shooting action sports.

The flash reach issue and be helped somewhat with a Better Beamer: The Flash X-Tender (Better Beamer) FX-3 Flash Output Booster for Canon 580EX, Canon 580EX II, Metz 54-4 & Nikon SB700 Flashes

I am think about getting a Nikon D7000 and using my 70-200 f2.8.When shoot with my d80 1/250th shutter speed kelvin at 6300 iso 800 to 1000. I have a had time get the full action picture.

I'm enjoying the D7000's ISO performance and the Nikon 70-200 2.8
