i have a feeling that this thread is gonna be huge....oh to the OP if you are asking for suggestions as to where is the most scenic canal situated so you can go shoot it, then my advice is to just find the nearest one and make it look beautiful. Even if you fail you'll end up learning something, also the most beautiful one could be located in a different country or even planet for that matter ....lol
