As per the title, I would like to take pictures to the fireflies this summer. I really have no idea from where to start...
My equipment is:

Nikon D3100
Canon SX 60
Iphone 6S

Perhaps it will be done from a kayak, which makes things more complicated because I am not sure the boat will be stable and it will be possible to use a tripod
Anyway let's start from the basics, imagine I will just be on the ground, it might be anyway. Then I will think about taking pictures from the boat

Thank you

The problem is going to be having a fast enough shutter speed that the fireflies aren't streaks of light instead of points of light.
The light fireflies makes isn't all that bright so you'll have to jack up the ISO setting and use a wide lens aperture in the hope of having a fast enough shutter speed. So start leraning how to manually set the exposure triad settings, aperture, shutter speed & ISO.
What lens (s) do you have for the D3100?
