takumar 200mm f3.5 m42

Anyone have any experience with this lens? I found one in very good condition for $70. I thought it might be fun play around with. I figure if anything else it might just look cool on my book self.

It looks like it could be pretty decent but honestly I could not find much on it.

I own an older 200mm Super-Takumar which I used in 2006-2007.. It is very sharp. Focusing is a long, slow throw, somewhat difficult to focus on an adapted d-slr. I used it on a Canon 5D classic. I shot a few pictures of hawks flying above me at 800 yards or so...exceptionally fine details rendered. The photos I shot with it are buried somewhere in my archives.

Read the same reviews as jc. Sounds like a nice lens. Based on Ebay, 70 bucks is a good price. Even better if it has the tripod collar and/or the original case.

I own that one as well. I just put a couple color rolls through it this week. On a Pentax SP1000. I think I got a couple Cooper hawk pics with it. Whether they're worthy to post or not, remains to be seen. it also has a long minimum focus which takes getting used to. I need to get one more roll of color shot, and I'll open the C-41 Unicolor kit and expense it in on the 8 rolls.
