Tamron Warranty/Customer service. WHAT A JOKE

Not quite the same, but my Tamron 17-50 literally fell apart, for no reason, while using it too.. but I was able to screw the piece that fell off back on and it's been fine. I'll probably never buy a Tamron lens again though. You get what you pay for I suppose.

great, now im going to worry about my lens everytime i use it (all the time) .

My wife is in customer service. and generally they are much more willing to work with someone who is calm and collected and isn't out of control.

That wasn't the case today. She was rude from the moment she answered the phone.
I've been around the world long enough to know that you get more with honey than vinegar, so I was very pleasant. Until the end. Then I was just a ***** and said I'd send payment on the damn thing.

This is one of the reasons in all the years I have been involved with photography, I most generally, avoided third party lens manufacturers save for Sigma and they have always seemed to do a better job than many of the others who have come and gone. No matter what brand of camera you buy you are almost always better off buying OEM glass for that camera body. I would rather buy a used serviceable Nikkor lens any day of the week that may be older and slower than purchase the newest fast third party lens as a rule. Its usually an invitation for a let down IMO unless I can get it so cheap I don't care. I recently bought an AI nikko for dirt cheap so any aftermarket lens would have to be really attractive in price to the point I would not care if it got damaged.

Sorry to hear about your lens falling apart and Tamron refusing to take care of your problems. It says volumes about their products and their company.

$250 used Nikon ED AF 300mm f/4 in MINT condition FTW! definitely older. definitely slower. definitely HEAVIER. But looks like is built like a tank.

I wasn't trying to imply that you may have been rude to her. I was just meaning it as a general responce to those saying to start the whole anti tamron campaign. You will get bad customer service people because let's be honest, for most companies it's an entry level job there pulling people off the street to fill up. Just be polite, get there name and ask to speak to a supervisor. if that doesn't work, go to there website. and start searching out higher ups to call. Usually if someone isn't wanting to transfer me to a manager, i'll hang up. wait a day, call the direct company line and ask to speak to the head of customer relations. You can sometimes then bypass the whole customer service phone responders.
