I have this beautiful bag of tea I got as a gift...decided to make a picture of it (and the tea is good too )

Why flash?

Try again w/o flash, and maybe some 3rds rule.

Agree, no flash. Come in a little tighter/higher to get rid of the table top fall off on the right.

Some steam out of the pot might give it some dynamic too.
Shoot against something dark in the background, and throw some light in there.

Look for a better background or shoot wide open to blur it out.

Thank you for your suggestions...logistically I don't know if I can do steam (which would be cool) but I can play with lighting/no flash and DoF to bring it out better. My on camera flash is definitely limiting I did try a tissue to diffuse the light...didn't work so well.
