Tebbetts - A Foster Pit Bull

This is Tebbetts, a Pit Bull that my work is currently fostering for our local animal shelter. I take photos of him regularly in an attempt to draw more interest to him. This particular photo seemed to be a big hit among the shelter staff.

nice shot.. except for the framing! As mentioned, don't chop ears! ( the photographically illiterate may still like it... but it could be better!)

I volunteered at my local animal shelter and it was full of Pti Bulls. If you want to increase the adoption rate by taking photos, get an intimate shot for the viewers to look at. Not trying to slag you off, but your PoV is typical of beginner shots of animals. Get down on their level so potential adoptees can imagine how their life will be fulfilled with this dog.

Keep shooting and good luck with the shelter. You're doing a good deed.

One big tip I've also read is to get them out of the cage/pen or at the very least get the pen/cage out of the photo. From all the times I've read of rehoming animals they biggest success rate comes when the animals are shown in a happy environment (eg running outside on the grass, no fencing in sight) and/or in a happy home like environment (a coloured, patterned cushion to sit a kitten upon, or a couch for a dog etc...). In other words showing the animal as it would be in the future owners home, as opposed to showing the animal sad and alone in the kennels (because at the end of the day people want to buy the loving, happy animal as opposed to the sad one - they feel sorry for it, but they don't really want to take it home as much as the happy one).
