Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Hey everyone! I am new to photography, with less than a year overall in the hobby, currently focusing on wildlife photography, and soon macro (to expand the list of things that I can do really!). I am also an Engineer by trade, so the technical aspects of photography interest me. I enjoy the mix of technical fiddling and creative expression photography offers.

What are some good technical books that you would recommend someone on various topics, such as Optics, Lens Design, Lighting, any other topics that I have not explicitly included, etc!

Pleasure to meet you all.

G'day mate

To me it seems that you have several choice / directions of travel
1)- use your local newsagency for 6-12 months to read selected magazines on photographic techniques and lenses available commercially, and
2)- talk to Dr Google for 'technical' books on optics and lens design ... I am sure that you will find a good range of books -with a good range of prices too!

Way back some decades ago when I studied Photographic Optics at college we used the text from Arthur Cox (Focal Press) tho I do not know whether it is still available. I still have the book on my shelf!

Hope this helps
Phil

Like Phil, Cox's Optics, as it was familiarly known, was the go-to reference source when I was learning many, many decades ago. Sadly, copies are hard to find these days and I wish I could remember who I loaned mine to.

If you want an in depth technical course check out Marc Levoy's course from Stanford University. Should be an engineer's dream. Highly technical but still understandable. There is a link to the Stanford archive but here is a you tube link to the first session.

I'm a technical geek too. We could work together!

If you ever come back, that is.
